catdozericon.jpg (16203 bytes) The Cat dozer is used the least, but is very necessary to build the access roads and if needed to clear an area suitable for processing the timber and loading the trucks. This area is called a landing.
hydroaxicon.jpg (20501 bytes) The Hydro-Ax 711E with a 22 inch sawhead is used to cut down carry and pile trees for the skidder to relay to the landing. The Hydro-Ax will drive to a tree and cut a 20 inch in diameter hardwood in a fraction of a second. When thinning a tract of timber, the buncher operator selects trees to be cut while preserving an aesthetically pleasing environment. The Hydro-Ax and related machinery are great improvements over the chain saw and hard-hat!
timberjackicon.jpg (18217 bytes) The Timberjack 460 skidder's main job is to pull the trees piled by the buncher to the landing. As with all Blue Ox Timber machines, this requires a conscientious operator. The skidder driver has to use caution in choosing his trails in order to prevent damage to trees that will remain.
prenticeicon.jpg (17359 bytes) The Prentice 310E Log Loader is a stationary machine on a 45 foot trailer. This operator has the responsibility of sorting and merchandising the timber as well as loading the trees on to the waiting Log trailers. The Prentice is equiped with a CTR Delimber. The CTR will delimb and top trees at any desired length. The Prentice also includes a CTR Ground Saw which cuts logs into 12 to 18 foot lengths. All of these operations are performed from the comfort of an air-conditioned cab. Once again, technology has nearly eliminated the need for chain saws on today's logging sites.
